Teenager Killled In North Austin After Being Struck By Car
Ramon Caal Cho, 19, was pronounced dead at the scene after trying to cross Interstate 35 on Nov. 29, according to a police investigation.
AUSTIN, TX — Police on Monday identified the teenage pedestrian who was fatally struck by a car last weekend.
The incident occurred on Nov. 29 just before 12:45 a.m. along the 8800 block of North Interstate 35 southbound. According to a police advisory, detectives learned that a gray 2012 Chevrolet Camaro was traveling southbound in the center of the roadway when a pedestrian crossed the highway from west to east.
The driver struck the pedestrian, police said, and stayed at the scene to cooperate with an investigation. No charges against the driver are expected to be filed. The pedestrian, 19-year-old Ramon Caal Cho, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The incident marked the city's 78th fatal traffic crash of 2020, police said, resulting in 82 fatalities this year. At this time in 2019, police added there were 79 traffic fatalities in Austin.
