Tenants At Off-Campus Dorms Near UT-Austin Face Eviction
Some 60 tenants at Goodall Wooten residential dormitory off Guadalupe Street need to move by next month after building sale.

AUSTIN, TX — Some 60 tenants at the Goodall Wooten residential dormitory off Guadalupe Street are being forced to vacate next month after the sale of the building, according to a published report.
The student-run newspaper The Daily Texan reported tenants at the building at 2112 Guadalupe St. — known as "The Woo" in the local parlance — were told of their imminent displacement on April 16. The news reportedly took the tenants by surprise.
Built in 1956, the building is valued at $5.2 million, according to Travis Central Appraisal District records. The owner is listed as David McCullough, and a sale has not yet taken place. The building off the main Drag, (as Guadalupe Street is known) is considered off-campus housing and not officially connected to the university.

Among the displaced, The Daily Texan noted, is the Wooten's resident handyman, Nate Bell, whose most visible improvements project at his home/workplace is the aquaponics system set up in his two-room balcony filled with fish and ferns that is visible to passersby along The Drag. Bell told the student newspaper he plans to move the impressive aquatic feature to a friend's tea house garden ahead of the mass eviction.
