Update: Police Ask For Help Finding Missing Baytown Cop

John Stuart Beasley, 46, walked away from his home on Aug. 2 and hasn't been seen since.

BAYTOWN, TX – A well-known Baytown Police officer is missing and police are asking the public for help finding him. If anyone sees John Stuart Beasley or knows details about his whereabouts, they should contact police.

Chambers County Sheriff Brian Hawthorne, a personal friend of Beasley's, held a press conference Monday morning asking for help to find the missing 23-year police veteran, who mysteriously vanished on Aug. 2.

"This is bothersome to everyone in this community," Hawthorne said. "I have known him for many years, and we've lived in the same community for the last 15 years. This is personal to me."

The first indication that Beasley was missing came when his son came into the house about 4:15-4:30 and could not find him. Hawthorne said his son began calling around to some of his father's friends, and no one had seen him. His family began driving around looking him, and at 8:47 p.m., Beasley's wife reported him missing.

Investigators said there are no indications of foul play in Beasley’s disappearance, but they are investigating all possible leads and scenarios.

Beasley, 46, was last seen walking away from his home in the 1800 block of Parker Place Drive in the Plantation Subdivision about 3:30 p.m. Police believe he may have walked out of the house through the back door, and walked through a wooded area, where police found his cell phone, and the phone battery a short distance away.

"There is a lot going on investigatively," Hawthorne said. "We are following all leads...we've probably received about 20 to 30 tips since our press release, and we are trying to follow all of those up."

Lt. Steve Dorris, public information officer for the Baytown Police Department, said Beasley had worked the day before and seemed to be in good spirits when they'd spoken on Tuesday.

"Stewart is very highly thought of. He's like a brother to us," Dorris said.

Beasley, who is well-known in the Baytown community, coordinates a number of community policing functions such as National Night Out, and has touched a lot of lives, Dorris added.

Beasley is about 5-feet-9 and 220 pounds, with a muscular build. He has green eyes and has close-cropped blond hair. He was last seen wearing a gray T-shirt, khaki cargo shorts and black hiking shoes. He also has a teal blue colored tribal tattoo on his upper right shoulder.

Officers from the Baytown Police Department, dog teams from Alpha Team Search and Rescue from League City, and a K-9 team from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice have been called in to help deputies from the sheriff’s office conduct the search.

The public is asked that if anyone has any information concerning this matter that they immediately contact the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office at 409-267-2500 or Chambers County Crimestoppers at 844-860-8477.
