La Porte Woman Stabbed 14 Times Inside Her Home
A 21-year-old man is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after the attack early Wednesday.

LA PORTE, TX – A 21-year-old man attacked and stabbed a woman in her Dogwood Drive home early Wednesday morning, according to media reports. Although the woman suffered serious injuries in the attack, she is expected to recover, police said.
The attack happened about 2 a.m. on Wednesday.
The victim, who was identified as Angela Lara, told police that she heard her dogs barking and went outside to investigate. That’s when the man, who was identified as Cassius Lorenzo Collins, attacked her and stabbed her numerous times, KPRC reported. Collins, according to reports, was wearing a hooded sweatshirt at the time.

Police later arrested Collins and charged him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Lara, who police said was stabbed at least 14 times in the attack, suffered serious injuries and is expected to survive, police said.
Police reported that Collins has family ties to Lara and was upset because she would not allow him to see his child, who is also Lara's grandson, KTRK reported.

Collins appeared in court Thursday and is being held in the Harris County Jail with his bond set at $75,000.
