Man Burns Pasadena Woman's Body, Says She Died During Sex: Police
Terrance Washington, 27, is charged with kidnapping Candace Akin, and then setting her car on fire to hide evidence, police said.

PASADENA, TEXAS – A Pasadena man, who admitted to torching a woman's car with her body in the backseat, said the woman died while they were having sex, police said. Terrance Washington, 27, is being held in the Harris County Jail with his bond set at $500,000 on charges of aggravated kidnapping and tampering with evidence.
Those charges could be upgraded after the Harris County Medical Examiner determines how Candace Akin, 54, died.
Investigators said Washington and Akin were seen arguing in the parking lot of her apartment complex in the 3600 block of Shaver Street at 11 p.m. on Aug. 8.

Akin’s daughter, called 911 and told police she saw Washington force her mother into her 2009 Mercedes and drive away. Two days later, the South Houston Fire Department responded to a car fire at a grocery store in the 3300 block of Shaver Street.
When the fire was extinguished, firefighters found Akin’s body in the back seat and called the police. Washington was seen near the fire scene and he was arrested on a separate charge, police said.
