Strawberry Water Park Closed After Vandals Cause Damage
Vandalism is to blame for a severely damaged sand filtering system that has closed the city's water park since June 16.

PASADENA, TX -- Vandalism is making for a shorter summer for Pasadena residents who had plans to visit Strawberry Water Park.
The water park opened for the summer season on June 2, and may not re-open until the July 4th weekend.
That's because the park was closed after vandals went inside an outdoor mechanical room at about 9 p.m. on June 16 and significantly damaged a sand filter on the main pool.

Park officials discovered the damage the next morning, officials said.

Pasadena Police said surveillance video from the park showed two people breaking into the mechanical room, but they still don't have any leads.
Strawberry Water Park was built in 2014 as an addition to Strawberry Park, which has been an iconic city staple for decades.
