Plano secures second spot for best rental city
Plano earns high marks in national rental ranking

Plano, Texas - A study has shown that the city of Plano is the second best city in the United States to live in if you're renting a place in 2023. This shows that Plano is popular among people who want to live in good cities across the country.
The study was carried out carefully by RentCafe. They looked at 136 cities, and each city had at least 10,000 apartments. They used 20 different things to rank the cities. These were grouped into three important parts: cost of living, local economy, and quality of life.
When they looked at living costs and housing, they studied many factors. These included how much it costs to live there, the average size of an apartment, how full the apartments are, and how many are new or top-quality. They also looked at how many renters there were, how much more it costs to have an extra bedroom, how many people apply for each vacant apartment, and how often people renew their leases.

At the same time, they looked at the local economy. They looked at how many people are unemployed, how many people have advanced education, how much money renters earn, how many jobs are growing, and how many new businesses are starting.
Finally, they looked at the quality of life in each city. They looked at things like where the apartments are located, how good the schools are, how long car commuters are delayed each year, how many people use cars, how good the natural surroundings are, and how many days have good air quality.

The study found that cities in the south did well, with 36 out of the top 50 spots. Texas did particularly well, with four cities in the top 10.
The best cities were Charleston, SC in first place, followed by Plano, TX, then Scottsdale, AZ, Atlanta, GA, and Raleigh, NC. The rest of the top ten were Round Rock, TX, Austin, TX, Charlotte, NC, Conroe, TX, and Arlington, VA.
What made Plano stand out was how well it did in two areas: local economy and quality of life. It ranked second and sixth in these areas. Even though it was lower in the ranking for "housing & cost of living" at 68th, doing well in the other two areas made it a top choice for renters.
"Plano’s reputation for producing great academic achievers make it an ideal spot for families looking for a city with excellent public schools, in addition to its great air quality and significant share of high-end apartments (78.2%)," the study said.
The study also mentioned that Plano has the headquarters for big companies like Bank of America, Hewlett Packard, FedEx, JCPenney, and Pepsi. Plano also has one of the fastest-growing job markets in the country.
Other cities in North Texas that did well in the study were Denton (No. 19), Dallas (No. 32), and Fort Worth (No. 37).
