Austin Chamber Recognizes Round Rock Educational Excellence

Award winners to be recognized Nov. 14 during 'State of Education' in showcasing efforts to prepare students for college and careers.

AUSTIN, TX — The Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce on Thursday announced recipients of its District Awards for Educational Excellence.

The award winners will be recognized Nov. 14 at the State of Education at the Hilton Austin. The awards recognize schools distinguishing themselves academically in preparing students for college and careers.

Highest Senior Survey Participation Rate by Enrollment for a High School Campus:

  • Round Rock High School, Liberal Arts and Science Academy, LBJ Early College High School

Highest College Readiness Rate for a School District:

“Every day, educators across the Austin region are helping our children prepare for a successful future," Chamber Vice Chair, Education, Nikki Graham said in a prepared statement. "Our community of job creators strives to help in this critical undertaking by collaborating with school districts and institutions of higher learning to help our students prepare for college and careers and by honoring all the good work our counselors and administrators do. We look forward to an exciting event where we can offer our gratitude to the educational community across the region.”

Awards were determined by data submitted by individual campuses, chamber officials noted. Other winners are:

Highest Financial Aid Saturdays Attendance for a High School Campus:

  • Hutto High School

Greatest Improvement in College Readiness for a School District:

  • Hutto ISD

Greatest Improvement in Direct-to-College Enrollment for a High School Campus:

  • Akins High School
  • Crockett High School
  • Garza Independent High School

Greatest Improvement in Direct-to-College Enrollment for a School District:

  • Leander Independent School District

Highest Overall Direct-to-College Enrollment for a High School Campus:

  • Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders

The State of Education event will feature discussions about the future of education in Central Texas and how the region can enhance the skills of local talent.
