Benefit Walk Helps Advance Awareness For Autoimmune Disease
The Sjögren's Foundation will host its Walk for Sjögren's & Health Fair to raise money toward education and research.
ROUND ROCK, TX — It's estimated that4 million Americans suffer from Sjögren's Syndrome- a systemic autoimmune disease with symptoms felt throughout the entire body. Sjögrens affects both men and women of all ages and ethnicities and includes symptoms of extensive dryness, other serious complications include profound fatigue, chronic pain, major organ involvement, neuropathies and lymphomas. The most commonly reported symptoms include dry eye, dry mouth, fatigue and musculoskeletal pain.
In an effort to advance awareness and raise much needed funding, the Sjögren's Syndrome Foundation will host the Austin Area Walk for Sjögren's & Health Fair on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. at the Round Rock Premium Outlets located at 4401 N. Interstate Hwy 35, Round Rock, TX 78664. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and walk begins at 10 a.m. Participants will join fellow patients, family and friends and funds raised help support Sjögren's research and education.
The event will also feature music, face painting, crafts, games and prizes! The health fair portion of the event will include an "Ask the Experts" Q&A, where a panel of experts will answer questions about living with Sjörgen's.
