GIFT Fest Features Short Films Promoting Gender Equality

The Girl Improved (short) Film & Theatre Festival features movies and stage plays created by youth who identify as female or nonbinary.

ROUND ROCK, TX — The Girl Improved (short) Film & Theatre Festival (GIFT Fest), featuring movies and stage plays created by youth who identify as female or nonbinary, and their allies, invite the community to a weekend virtual film festival showcasing talent and creativity. GIFT Fest tackles gender inequality in film and theatre, and through their efforts, promote a better future for all.

GIFT Fest offers challenges to youth 18 and younger to create art that is deliberately inclusive, with all GIFT Fest submissions (10 minutes or less) following the following guidelines: a minimum of 50% of the key creative team and crew must identify as female or nonbinary; at least 50% of the cast must identify as female or nonbinary; and storylines must be centered outside the realm of romance.

Audiences may purchase festival passes offering access to the entire online festival taking place August 1 - August 2 from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. with pricing following a pay-what-you-can tiered structure. Participants will receive an email with included link to sign up for viewing with Filmocracy, the online streaming platform used during GIFT Fest.
