Here are the top three stories in Round Rock today:

  1. Yesterday, Mar. 9, construction began on the I-35 at US 79 (southbound). To improve mobility and traffic flow, the project will create an entrance and exit extension lane between US 79 and SH 45 North. The contractor is JD Abrams L.P. with the $8.4 million project expected to be complete in early 2023. (City of Round Rock)
  2. On Tuesday, Mar. 8, the Round Rock ISD school board voted against separating with Superintendent Hafedh Azaiez after receiving the final investigation report. The vote was debated behind closed doors for five hours and the final vote was 4 to 2. However, the decision is not final and on Mar. 21 the board will reconsider his employment. (KVUE)
  3. On Monday, Mar. 7, 32-year-old Clint Carr, who co-owned CC Pharmacy locations in Houston, Austin, and Round Rock, was convicted by a federal jury for illegally distributing more than 1.5 million doses of controlled substances through his pharmacies. Carr has been released from custody on a $250,000 bond and his sentencing is set for May 27. He faces up to 140 years in federal prison. (KXAN)
