Round Rock To Celebrate Festival Of Lights 'Diwali'

Diwali Light Festival celebrates tradition and culture and lasts several days beginning in mid-October.

ROUND ROCK, TX — The celebration of light, or Diwali, celebrated over the course of five days in October and November, is symbolic of the triumph of good over evil, victory of light over darkness and the conquering of knowledge over ignorance. A major festival in the Hindu tradition, as well as other faiths and cultures across the world, Diwali invites celebrants to illuminate their homes, businesses, and places of worship with candles to honor light as a metaphor for knowledge and consciousness.

The Round Rock Diwali Festival invites the community to enjoy the magic of the holiday as a fun and family-friendly festival for all. Taking place Saturday, Oct. 19 from 2 p.m. - 10 p.m., this free event will be held at Centennial Plaza located at 301 W. Bagdad, Round Rock, TX.

Attendees will enjoy the beauty of the street lights, delicious food, wonderful music, cultural dance, breathtaking Rangoli (sand art) and a fashion show. There will be plenty of activities for kids, including arts and crafts, and everyone can participate in free Bollywood dance lessons. Local vendors and artisans will display colorful arts and crafts, Indian clothing and jewelry, and there will be artists offering Henna temporary tattoos. Come out and revel in the celebration of light and enjoy a unique festival experience for all.
