Here are the top three stories today in Round Rock:
- Williamson County officials will host a public meeting in Round Rock on Apr. 6 at the J.B. and Hallie Jester Annex Community Room (1801 E Old Settlers Blvd.) at 4:30 p.m. to inform residents about potential flood risks in the area. On Mar. 18, officials announced the Atlas 14 Floodplain Mapping Study, which will update rainfall data throughout the county, map streams and waterways, and identify where flood risks are located. - Armando Flores, 53, allegedly buried millions of dollars in cash from drug sales under his porch in Round Rock. According to officials, Armando's brothers, twins Pedro and Margarito Flores, worked as distributors for Mexico's notorious cartel boss Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman. On Mar. 17, Armando plead guilty to money laundering charges for helping collect the drug money from Mexico and the U.S. after the twins had agreed to testify against Guzman in 2018, and for burying the cash under his porch. - Local Girl Scouts Troop 41395 delivered 250 boxes of cookies to the hospital staff at St. David's Round Rock Medical Center on Friday, Mar. 11. The 14 second-graders worked "tirelessly" for six weeks to collect the donations. Brownie River Cerda said, "it's really great that they can take care of people that are really sick. I want them to feel good and special about it." (KEYE TV CBS Austin)
