Round Rock Area Serving Center Helps Neighbors Amid Coronavirus
The organization seeks financial and food contributions to meet the demand for services by families impacted by the coronavirus crisis.
ROUND ROCK, TX —Like countless cities across the country, the Round Rock community has felt the adverse effects of the coronavirus pandemic and countless residents have seen the need to seek assistance from community agencies and organizations. The Round Rock Area Serving Center whose programs provide essential services to area residents in Round Rock and southern Williamson County, estimates that 797 families and 3,089 people were assisted in the first ten days of the emergency drive-through food distribution, with 35% of those being COVID-19 impacted households.
In their effort to adhere to public safety guidelines outlined by the county, the Serving Center facility was forced to close to the public on March 18, however, their food pantry remained in operation offering a drive-through alternative and to date distributes food on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Amid the public health crisis, the caseload for services continues to increase and the Serving Center anticipates exceeding its program budget as it responds to the need from client families, in addition to households affected by COVID-19. The organization expects its most urgent and immediate need will continue to be food distribution. As a result, food donations are being accepted, as are donations of recycled grocery bags. Financial contributions are needed to provide special funding for COVID-19 impacted families. To learn more about the Serving Center, their programs and services, and how you can help click HERE.
