Round Rock Celebrates Black History Month Throughout February

The City of Round Rock to host various events commemorating Black History Month and recognizing the many achievements of African-Americans.

ROUND ROCK, TX —In celebration of Black History Month, also known as African-American History Month, observed annually in February, Round Rock will host a series of events and activities that spotlight the achievements of African-Americans and their contributions to our country's storied history.

Throughout the month of February, Round Rock residents will have the opportunity to enjoy interesting events commemorating Black History Month happening throughout the city.

  • Black History Month Historic Bus Tour: The Round Rock Black History Organization invites you to celebrate Black History Month with the 5th Annual Historic Bus Tour. The tour will take place on Saturday, Feb. 15 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and feature stops at the Sweet Home Mural and the African-American Experience in Waco.   • Black History Month Movie Night: The Round Rock Public Library and the Round Rock Black History Organization will present a special showing of Hidden Figures on Thursday, Feb. 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. The screening is free and will take place at The Inspired Studio (110 S. Mays Street) in Downtown Round Rock. For more click HERE.
  • Melissa Fontenette-Mitchell From Slavery through the Civil Rights to the White House: Ms. Fontenette-Mitchell's photography exhibit illustrates our country's African-American history and her stunning photos will be displayed at the Round Rock Library gallery throughout the month of February. The Round Rock Public Library presents monthly cultural and art-themed exhibits and displays in the Gallery area on the first floor of the library. Exhibits can be viewed during library hours.
