Round Rock Community Finds Creative Way To Honor Graduates

Amid the cancellation of commencement ceremonies, the City honors graduates with a special lighting of the historic water tower, May 18-23.

ROUND ROCK, TX —With graduation season in full swing, and commencement ceremonies cancelled or rescheduled amid the COVID-19 health crisis, the Round Rock community has come together to find a creative way to celebrate the achievements of area graduates. The City's historic water tower will be lit in honor of Round Rock Independent School District high school graduating classes of 2020on a schedule from May 18-23.

All area high schools will be represented with tower lights being rotated to display the individual school's colors every 30 minutes and a congratulatory banner placed prominently in Downtown Round Rock in recognition of the 2020 graduates. The lighting schedule is as follows:

  • May 18: Red lights in honor of Success High School, Early College High School
  • May 19: Yellow lights in honor of Stony Point High School
  • May 20: Blue lights in honor of McNeil High School
  • May 21: Purple lights in honor of Cedar Ridge High School
  • May 22: Orange lights in honor of Westwood High School
  • May 23: Maroon lights in honor of Round Rock High School
