Round Rock ISD Receives $25,000 For Remote Learning Needs

As school systems transition to remote learning, Samsung has awarded $3 million to meet the needs of students amid COVID-19.

ROUND ROCK, TX —To help support schools across the country, Samsung has donated nearly $3 million to school systems in their efforts to transition to remote learning amid COVID-19. Round Rock ISD and its Round Rock ISD Partners in Education Foundation (PIE) received $25,000 to provide internet access and critical supplies to students in need with funds designated to meet the needs resulting from the pandemic.

“As the District transitioned to online at home course work for all students, the unexpected need for school supplies and hot spots became glaringly apparent. With the generous support from Samsung, the PIE Foundation was able to offset the cost of 4,000 at-home school supplies kits and 200 hot spots,” Marianne Reap, executive director of Round Rock ISD Partners in Education Foundation, said. “We are sincerely grateful for their community support during this time of uncertainty.”

As the District continues planning for the upcoming 2020-2021 academic year, access to learning tools continues to be a priority to serving the needs of Round Rock ISD's 51,000 students. To learn more, or for RRISD updates and announcements click HERE.
