Round Rock Area Non-Profits Seek Community's Help Amid COVID-19

Area non-profits struggle to keep up with demand for programs, services and look to community for help providing essential assistance.

ROUND ROCK, TX — Social distancing and workplace closures have impacted the way businesses operate since COVID-19, and non-profits have been heavily affected by how or if they are able to offer their vital services to the communities. It's estimated that 83% of fundraisers are cancelling or postponing their efforts to raise money for their organizations amid the uncertainty of the longterm effects from the coronavirus pandemic. With the political focus of relief centered on assistance for businesses, non-profits are struggling now more than ever to continue offering critical programs and services to the communities they serve.

Despite grim statistics, many non-profits remain dedicated to finding ways to raise money amid uncertain times. Taking cues from their small business counterparts, non-profit snow rely nearly exclusively on social media or technology to assist in dispensing crucial services. Round Rock area non-profits are no exception and a recently launched Business Connector by the Round Rock Chamber of Commerce gives area businesses and non-profits opportunities to post announcements for the community in light of service or programs interruptions due to coronavirus.

The following Round Rock area non-profits are asking the community for assistance during these challenging times. For additional information, please click on the individual organization links to learn more about their mission.

Help needed! ROCK has suspended classes through April 10 and postponed our 14th Annual Barn Dance from April 4 to June 13. Wendy Prindle (wendy@rockride.org) is accepting gift cards/certificates for our silent auction to include in the rescheduled Barn Dance event. We would also greatly appreciate items on our Amazon wishlist. You can also make a donation directly on our website ROCKride.org.

Sacred Heart Community Clinic

Help needed! Office supplies or Office Depot/WalMart gift cards to purchase them: printer/copier paper, stamps, envelopes, Post It notes, Avery labels (1”x2 5/8” and 4”x2”), and printer ink. We are having to reallocate our supply budget to cover the increase in staff salaries because our three staff providers are now working extended hours, as well as covering the shifts that our retired volunteer providers previously worked.

Healthy Kids Running Series

Help needed! Healthy Kids Running Series Round Rock needs help in the flyer department. I need to reprint once a new date is set. Then I need businesses to get the word out that we are still running this season…but only after the threats of sickness are gone. Like our page and share our updates when we have them.

Central Texas Table of Grace

Help needed! Currently we are in need of some essential supplies for our kiddos; toilet paper, Suave shampoo, hand sanitizer, male and female scented body washes, teen face wash, Lysol, scrubbing bubbles, rubber gloves, paper towels, paper plates, and paper cups. Presently some of our staff and volunteers are out due to being in vulnerable categories so paper goods will be a huge help allowing staff to keep an eye on kids and not worrying as much about washing dishes several times a day. Call Lee Ann at 512.762.7969 to coordinate drop off.

Fostering Hope

Help needed! We provide support, and trauma-informed coaching and training for foster and adoptive families, churches, and other organizations. This for us has always been in person. My team is having to look at what this looks like to do tele-coaching, on-line training, and perhaps even videos on demand. It means purchasing new software and the needed technology to implement this new model. So that’s our need. Visit our website here.
