Round Rock PD Event Offers Area Parents ID Kits For Kids

Kids ID at the PD will offer Round Rock parents identification kits at no charge to help law enforcement assist should a child go missing.

ROUND ROCK, TX — The city of Round Rock invites families to participate in an important event geared to helping parents keep their kids safe. Kids ID at the PD is a program sponsored by the Round Rock Police Department to provide identification kits at no charge for parents of children within the community. According the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, 2018 statistics indicate NCMEC assisted law enforcement and families with more than 25,000 cases of missing children.

Sobering statistics like these highlight the importance of preparation for parents in matters of safety and children. The most important tool used by law enforcement tasked with finding a missing child is readily available and up-to-date identifying information including a high-quality photo and fingerprints. Should a child go missing or is involved in an emergency, the RRPD relies on Child ID Kits offered to first responders with information provided by parents.

Time is critical when a child goes missing, and law enforcement must readily provided with an up-to-date description and photo of the child. The ability to disseminate information quickly is critical. The information provided for the Kids ID Program includes vital information and details related to the child's appearance, parent/guardian contact information, a color photo and fingerprint capture on digital scanner. Once gathered, the information is printed onto a larger card that is recommenced be stored in a safe but easily accessible location.
