Here are the top three stories today in Round Rock:

  1. Round Rock residents are having a hard time finding vetted contractors to fix the storm damage on their homes. One Round Rock family said they have "had so many scammers out there. Every day when we’ve come back to clean-up, we’ve had people knocking on the door telling us they are from certain companies, but they have no cards, no verification, no identification … no anything." There will be valid assistance, from food to a good contractor, at the United Heritage Center at the Dell Diamond today, Mar. 25, and tomorrow, Mar 26. (KXAN)
  2. According to the National Weather Service, winds from a tornado may have reached 135 miles per hour in Round Rock. Round Rock Mayor Craig Morgan said that in Round Rock "there have been no confirmed deaths or serious injuries as a result of the tornado." Morgan also said "the city is considering reactivating the Round Rock CARES program that helped small businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic" to help during the aftermath of the tornadoes. (Texas Standard)
  3. Some food trucks were hit hard during the storm, trucks blown yards away, broken appliances, and the power poles the trucks use for electricity fell down. Lourdes Castillo, the owner of Taqueria Jaguar Food Truck, said "they told us it could be one week to get the electricity back on, but looking at all the damages, it’s really looking like two to three weeks." Castillo is worried about supporting her family and how her employees will support their families. (Spectrum News)
