Silkies Hike For Veterans Offers Path To Mental Wellness

Irreverent Warriors hosts nationwide hikes for veterans and active duty military as a suicide prevention event and for community-building.

ROUND ROCK, TX — The Irreverent Warriors Silkies hike, a series of events held across the country with the purpose of preventing veteran suicide, hosts a Round Rock hike and invites veterans, active duty, national guard, and reservists to participate. The Silkies hike brings together veterans using humor and camaraderie to heal the mental wounds of war through therapeutic events and entertainment.

Silkies Hikes consist of putting on silkies and boots, carry a backpack filled with water, and have fun with several hundred others who ate one point served in the U.S. military. The Silkies Hike organizers ask that those who participate have fun, make friends, and be safe. While civilians are not allowed to hike but are welcome to volunteer and/or meet at the various stops along the way.

The vision of Irreverent Warriors is to be the force that unites the Veteran community and drives a healthy culture within its members. Through creative engagements, events, and strong Veteran-based support networks, Irreverent Warriors looks to be known as the catalyst for improving the Veteran outlook.
