Akins High School Lockdown Being Lifted

Students and staff at the school are safe.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX β€” The lockdown at Akins High School in South Austin is being lifted, the school district said.

Police are conducting a full search of the exterior and interior of the school before the lockdown is lifted. The reunification location for parents is on the north end of the campus near the fine arts building. Parents and guardians must have their IDs and permission to pick up students. Reunification began at noon.

The school district said that a "suspicious person" that authorities were looking for was found off campus. Students and staff at the school are safe and no injuries have been reported.
