BMX Safety Youth Program Austin begins fall enrollment August 21
Ty Bement founder of the BMX Show stunt team transitions into a new chapter in his life

AUSTIN, TX (August 2019) Ty Bement has known accomplishment despite having struggled with dyslexia and depression for most of his life. Lucky for him he found and sport he loved and people who believed in him. People who happened to love and pursue BMX.
Those who know Ty knows that he is a responsible and kind-hearted person. Growing up in Michigan his father raced motocross. His dad was strict about safety. Bement has always viewed BMX and Motocross as sport and trick oriented recognizing people who participate as athletes, but acknowledges that, even as a hobby, "It keeps [kids] out of trouble" which is why in all his shows he incorporates a drug awareness and anti-bullying message.
"I want to encourage healthy choices," Bement says. "And I really enjoy helping people so teaching is kind of my calling. Everything with the class is safety first and fun second."

Bement has been teaching people BMX and stunts for more than ten years. He often travels with the BMX Show, but these days he sends his stunt team captain, Adam Penberg, and team lead, Skylar Anderson, out to represent the organization. He intends to continue to manage both the BMX Show and the BMX Youth Safety Program, but now is focusing his efforts on the development of the safety program.
For new students, an assessment is required on the first day for placement. Students do compete in events throughout the year and some go on to join the BMX Show stunt team. Among the lessons students will learn in the BMX Youth Safety Program are personal development, BMX bicycle safety, bicycle handling and maneuvers, bicycle care and maintenance and BMX ethics in the park.
