Check Out This Huge Outdoor Art Installation in South Austin on Sept. 19

There will be about two dozen huge inflatable white spheres at the Mary Moore Searight Metropolitan Park on Saturday, Sept. 19 as part of the TEMPO project’s one-day installations throughout the city this fall.

Juan Deleon’s project “Omission” will feature 10-foot-high inflatable white spheres arranged in various configurations. The TEMPO program “allows artists to explore a range of themes suitable for the outdoor environment and provides the opportunity for innovative, thought-provoking artwork that impacts the way people experience their environment.”

Deleon, who was born in the Philippines and lives in East Texas, is a graduate of the University of Houston. He says his art is about “creating elements that allude to the relationship between people, scale, volume weight, mass and space.”
