SOUTH AUSTIN, TX — An online fundraising campaign has been launched to benefit workers of a popular South Austin coffee shop that unexpectedly closed its doors.
Former employees of the Strange Brew coffee shop at 5326 Manchaca Rd. told Fox 7 that customers were recently asked to leave as the business was suddenly shuttered. Since then, some of the 21 workers reported having their paychecks bounce when they tried to cash or deposit them.
One of the former employees, two-year veteran Ben Brockman, theorized the coffee shop closed as a result of overly fast expansion, as the news station reported. Customers, meanwhile, lamented the sudden closure of their hangout.
