Ex-Texas Cop Charged In Murder of His Pregnant Girlfriend

The former Austin police officer was extradited from Indonesia where he fled in July.

VonTrey Clark, the former Austin police officer who fled to Indonesia to escape murder charges in the death of his pregnant girlfriend earlier this year, has been brought back to Texas.

Clark, 32, landed in Austin late Wednesday and was taken to Bastrop County where he was charged with capital murder and unlawful flight to avoid prosecution, KXAN reported. He is accused of trying to hire a hit man to kill Samantha Dean because she was pregnant with his child and refused to have an abortion.

Dean’s body was found behind a vacant building in Bastrop County on Feb. 4. She had been shot three times.

According to the arrest warrant, Clark wanted “to pay someone $5,000 to kill Dean and her baby due to Dean wanting Clark to pay child support for the baby.”

Clark was suspended from the Austin Police Department while an investigation was being conducted into Dean’s murder. He fled to Bali, Indonesia, in mid-July.

“It’s been a very frustrating period of time for us,” said Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo. “I’m looking forward to the day the Dean family gets justice, and I’m hoping that justice comes quickly.”
