Cruzteca Mexican Kitchen on Brodie Lane is latest venture of owners of popular Mellizoz Tacos food truck on 1st Street.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX — Operators of one of the city's food truck pioneers have launched a full-fledged, brick-and-mortar restaurant in South Austin, according to reports.

Cruzteca Mexican Kitchen, 5207 Brodie Lane, is the latest venture from Adam Winters and Jessica Galindo Winters, owners of the popular Mellizoz Tacos food truck on South 1st Street, Austin360 reported. The location where the Stuffed Cajun Meat Market once stood offers what is essentially an expanded menu of its storied food truck menu, its operators told the blog.

What is that fare? An assortment of tortas (sandwiches made with crusty bread rolls, served hot or cold) containing fried avocado, blackened tilapia and pulled pork among other ingredients and, of course, the tacos to which South Austin residents have long clamored: The "Slowrider" featuring braised beef, the roasted-chicken-stuffed "Bowman," the crispy beef taco dubbed "Old School" and other favorites. Beer and margaritas soon will be offered to wash it all down.

There are breakfast offerings as well, including the staple chilaquiles, a traditional Mexican peasant dish with centerpiece fried tortillas bathed in green or red salsa. The "Pacheco" taco featuring eggs and braised beef also is on the menu.

Cruzteca is open 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. See the full menu here.
