Free Pizza Slice, Drink For Federal Government Workers

AUSTIN, TEXAS — The federal government shutdown may be over, but Home Slice Pizza still wants to honor workers affected by furloughs for what turned out to be more than a month of inactivity.

Home Slice Pizza officials on Monday unveiled a Federal Government Employee Appreciation Week as a way to say thanks for all affected federal government employees impacted by what ended up being the longest such shutdown in 35 days. The shutdown occurred after an impasse on funding for a wall along the U.S. southern border that Donald Trump seeks to build as a way of curbing illegal immigration.

With the federal government since reopened (at least for the time being), government workers are now catching up on bills. As a way to say thank you for their work while treating them to a slice of pie, Home Slice Pizza has scheduled its appreciation week from Monday (Feb. 4) through Friday, Feb. 8, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The offer of a free slice of pizza and a fountain drink is offered to any federal government employees (with show of government issued ID) at all Home Slice Pizza locations:
