Victim Identified, Lanes Reopen on U.S. 183 After a Deadly Crash

Lanes reopened today after a head-on collision kills one, injures another.

All northbound and southbound lanes on Highway 183 between FM 973 and FM 812 reopened on Wednesday after Homero Segovia, 23, was pronounced dead at the scene of a three-car collision on Monday morning.

Three vehicles collided in South Austin, Segovia and injuring another driver.

According to the Texas Highway Patrol, a white pickup truck that was heading southbound on Highway 183 veered into a northbound lane at Lava Hill Road. The truck then clipped a Hyundai’s back bumper, causing the car to spin out and crash head-on with another truck heading north.

The driver in the truck headed south was flown to University Medical Center Brackenridge for surgery. His condition is currently unknown. The driver and passenger of the Hyundai were not injured. It is unknown if drugs, alcohol, or speed were factors in the crash.
