
A man died in an early morning car crash Friday in South Austin.
According to the Austin-Travis County EMS, a man in his 40s was killed in the crash. Austin police said the man was traveling eastbound on Highway 71 at about 2:00 a.m. when the crash occurred. When officers arrived at the crash scene, they found the man ejected from the car. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police believe a light pole or telephone pole may have been hit, but they are still investigating what caused the crash. An APD Air1 helicopter searched the area looking for anyone who may have been in the car. Police said they believe only one person was in the vehicle.
