ICYMI: Manchaca Road Widening Subject Of Public Hearing June 28

AUSTIN – The proposed widening of FM 2304 (Manchaca Road) from Ravenscroft Drive to FM 1626 in south Travis County will be the topic of discussion at an upcoming public hearing hosted by the Texas Department of Transportation on Thursday, officials said.

The meeting is scheduled to take place on June 28 at Menchaca Elementary School, 12120 Manchaca Rd., transportation officials said. The hearing will begin with an open house at 5:30 p.m., followed by a formal presentation at 6 p.m. A public comment session will be held after the presentation.

The purpose of the proposed Manchaca Road widening project is to improve mobility and connectivity, and provide additional roadway capacity to meet future traffic demands due to population growth. The proposed project would:

• Extend Manchaca Road for 1.14 miles between Ravenscroft Drive and FM 1626

• Widen Manchaca Road from two to four travel lanes (two in each direction), with a center-turn lane

• Construct six-foot bicycle lanes and sidewalks

• Provide drainage improvements

• Utilize existing right-of-way width

The open house and public hearing will allow citizens the opportunity to review and comment on the proposed widening project. Displays will be available and staff will be present to answer questions.
