New South Austin Nail Salon Eliminates Traditional Smells, Fumes

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX — The opening of a nail salon hardly every makes news, notwithstanding the quality of its offerings to a cuticle-challenged clientele. Yet a new South Austin salon called "Coated" has been the buzz of the town for the cognoscenti since its recent opening.

That's because the sleek salon is designed with a cutting-edge ventilation system to eliminate the smells usually associated with such establishments, not to mention the fumes clients are averse to inhaling.

"CLEAN AIR Coated is Austin’s Clean Air Salon because we have true source-capture ventilation," its operators wrote on their website. "Our specialized system removes fumes, dust and odor at the source and out of the salon, which ensures the healthiest air quality for our guests and technicians."

Clients still get the treatment they've come to expect when getting manicures or pedicures — hot towel service, indulgent massage, polish and drying while sipping a drink — while breathing easy.

"You won’t find any odd-smells or nail techs wearing masks at Coated, which makes us the best place to get your nails done," salon owners wrote. They explain the captured air in the place is never recycled or filtered–it’s completely removed from the salon, while fresh clean air is always coming in.
