Power Outage Prompts Surgery Cancellations At S. Austin Hospital
St. David's South Austin Medical Center officials say patients' safety was not compromised after backup generators engaged as backup.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX — A St. David's South Austin Medical Center power outage Thursday has prompted the rescheduling of all surgeries there, according to a published report.
The central tower at the medical facility on Ben White Boulevard lost power at around 9 a.m. when an electrical panel board malfunctioned, hospital officials told the Austin American-Statesman. In a prepared statement, the hospital's chief executive officer said hospital staff engaged backup generators located at the site as alternative power sources, and the safety of patients was never compromised.
Electricians were dispatched to the scene to restore power, officials said.
