SIMS Foundation To Honor Mayor Steve Adler For Efforts To Save Music, Arts Industries
The 'Heart of the City' award is in recognition of Adler's efforts to retain musicians and artists in light of affordability issues.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX β The SIMS Foundation is scheduled to bestow Mayor Steve Adler with the "Heart of the City" award on Saturday for his efforts to ensure the well-being of the music industry.
In light of soaring property rates, many musicians and artists have been forced to leave Austin β an ironic twist in a city that bills itself as the "live music capital of the world." To stem the exodus, Adler has spearheaded efforts to help retain such residents, an effort that includes his leadership pushing the Omnibus Resolution, a series of policy proposals aimed at stimulating the local music and arts sectors unveiled in June.
For such efforts, the Sims Foundation plans to honor him at Emo's at 2015 E Riverside Dr,

The SIMS Foundation provides access and financial support for mental health and addiction recovery services to Austin music industry professionals and their families. Over the last 19 years, the SIMS Foundation has built a network of specialized treatment with more than 70 vetted providers and partner organization, officials said.
The award ceremony is scheduled at 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3 at Emo's.
