South Austin Woman Allegedly Threatens To Kill Her Brother for Eating Her BBQ Ribs
Her brother told police that he didn't know the ribs were hers.

A South Austin woman was arrested for aggravated assault after allegedly threatening to kill her brother for eating her barbecue ribs.
Austin Police responded to a 911 call about a disturbance at 121 Hergotz Lane on Sunday evening, according to the arrest affidavit which was obtained by Patch. A man named Melvin Magee told police that his sister, Jean Banks, threatened him with a 10-inch butcher knife.
“Melvin said Jean got angry with him because he ate some ribs that belonged to Jean,” the affidavit said. “Melvin said he didn’t know the ribs were Jean’s.”

The two began to argue and Jean pushed Melvin, then Melvin pushed her back, “hard enough to knock her down.” That’s when Jean went into the kitchen and grabbed the knife and “held it up over her head in an aggressive manner,” the affidavit said.
Melvin said his sister told him, “I’m going to kill you!” and charged at him with the knife, according to the affidavit.

“Melvin said in ran in fear of his life out of the front house of the door. Melvin said he closed the door behind him and held the door shut so that Jean could not open the door. Jean attempted to open the door a few times but could not due to Melvin holding the door,” the affidavit said.
Melvin then went next door and called 911.
Banks originally told police that she and her brother merely argued and pushed each other, then she changed her story and said her brother “thought Jean had a knife, but claimed she never had a knife,” the affidavit said.
Police arrested her for aggravated assault-family violence, which is a second degree felony. Bail was set at $10,000.
