Texas Transportation Crews Busy At William Cannon Drive/Stassney

AUSTIN, TX — While many of us plot our summer vacations, work crews will be busy as bees under a blazing sun continuing work on building U-turn bridges at William Cannon Drive and Stassney Lane, officials said Monday.

In late June, crews are slated to demolish the southern portion of the William Cannon bridge and shift traffic to the newly constructed U-turn bridge on the north side, Texas Department of Transportation officials said. In late September/early October, crews will move forward with demolishing the existing Stassney Lane bridge and detouring traffic to the two new U-turn bridges, officials said.

In addition to these larger items, construction continues on the ten-foot-wide shared-use paths along the north and southbound frontage roads, officials said. Once complete, these shared-use paths will make area businesses and residential communities more bicycle and pedestrian accessible, according to TxDot officials.
