AUSTIN, TEXAS β€” The event POP Cats isn't happening until May, but meow is the time for feline lovers to plan their attendance.

Tickets went on sale Wednesday for what's being described as a "...feline-centric cat, pop and art festival poised to bring "cattitude" back to Austin on May 4-5. This cat lovers' festival debuted in Austin last year at the Palmer Events Center.

The reviews were furmidable. It really gave one paws to see the throngs of feline aficionados with their purrfect furry companions. And we're not kitten around either. We have a feeling that purrhaps the reprise might make hisstory.

"The popular event draws feline lovers from every corner of Texas with the mission of educating through entertainment," organizers described in a press release labeled for "immeowdiate release." This year's version promises to "...feature more cats, more interactive fun and more educational programming β€” all celebrating the spirited connection of the cat community."

More than 80 exhibitors β€” with a full cat-alog of feline-themed art and wares β€” will showcase at POP Cats, organizers add. Other interactive β€œcattractions” include cat playgrounds for kids and adults, onsite cat adoptions, β€œcattitude” costume contests for kids and adults, art workshop series, music, face painting, live painting, caricatures and a weekend full of Instagrammable moments.

This year’s POP Cats features Kitten Lady (Hannah Shaw), the popular kitten rescuer, humane educator, author, and unwavering animal advocate, in a headliner role. The event will also feature its first-ever host, celebrated cat advocate TrapKing (Sterling Davis.) Kitten Lady and TrapKing have both risen to fame through their hip, inspirational digital content that displays the importance of taking action in the community to improve the lives of our beloved feline friends. Their participation highlights the event’s advocacy and educational programming, which is a key component of its mission.

Eight feline-friendly Central Texas-area non-profit organizations, including Austin Animal Center, Austin Humane Society, Austin Street Cat Rescue, Bastrop Animal Rescue, Emancipet, Texas Humane Heroes, Shadow Cats, and Williamson County Regional Shelter, will participate in the event. POP Cats supports the participating organizations through a comprehensive series of initiatives, from donating partial funds from ticket and booth sales proceeds to providing them with a platform for cat adoptions, volunteer recruitment, volunteer appreciation, and education.
