Traffic Alert: Interstate 35 At William Cannon Drive To Close
Closures in alternating directions through Thursday for bridge construction will detour traffic to Slaughter Lane north to Stassney Lane.

AUSTIN, TEXAS β Interstate 35 at William Cannon Drive will close in alternating directions through Thursday as construction crews build a U-turn bridge, transportation officials said Monday.
Texas Department of Transportation officials said the artery will temporarily close Monday through Thursday nights, while crews use cranes to lift and place large beams for a new William Cannon Drive north-to-south U-turn bridge. During the closures, traffic will be detoured to the frontage road.
The closures will affect southbound drivers on Monday and Tuesday nights, Sept. 10-11, and northbound motorists on Wednesday and Thursday nights, Sept. 12-13 between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m., weather permitting. In addition, one lane in the opposite direction will be closed on I-35 while the beams are being set, officials said. During this phase of work, the William Cannon Drive bridge will close to traffic each night at 8 p.m. All I-35 main lanes and William Cannon Drive will reopen daily, officials noted.
