2 Arrested Driving Stolen UHaul Truck With Stolen Property

Deputies arrested Robert Mercado and Melvin Galvan after the men were caught hauling stolen property in a stolen UHaul truck.

SPRING, TX -- On July 10, a deputy with Constable Mark Herman’s Office responded to the 1900 block of FM 1960 in reference to a suspicious vehicle.

When the deputy arrived, he found a U-haul and a pickup truck in the back of the woods and two men in the process of transferring property between the two vehicles.

The deputy identified the two men as Robert Mercado and Melvin Galvan

Investigators learned that the U-haul was reported stolen out of New Mexico and the property inside the truck had been stolen from several storage units in Harris and Montgomery Counties.

The U-Haul and property were recovered and the investigation is ongoing with the possibility of more criminal charges being filed.

Mercado was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Theft, while Galvan was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and Theft.

Their bond and court information have not been set at this time.
