Accused Wrong-Way Driver Who Hit Deputy Is Detained By ICE

Noelvin Rodriquez​, 40, was arrested at 6 a.m., Sunday and charged with DWI after he allegedly hit a deputy constable's car on Texas 249.

HOUSTON, TX — A man who hit a Harris County deputy constable while allegedly driving the wrong way on Texas 249, is being held by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and is facing deportation.

Noelvin Rodriquez, 40, was arrested at 6 a.m., Sunday after a deputy constable who was traveling on Texas 249 and Bammel North Houston Road, saw a car coming directly at him.

The deputy said he stopped his patrol car to try and avoid the crash, but was hit by the car driven by the man identified as Rodriquez.

The deputy said Rodriguez tried to back up and drive off, but was stopped and detained by the deputy, who said Rodriguez appeared intoxicated.

Rodriguez was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated with his bond set at $500.00.

Rodriguez posted bail and was released into the custody of ICE agents after it was learned that Rodriguez, who is from Honduras, was in the U.S. illegally, KPRC reported.
