Spring-Klein Chamber President Myeshi Briley Resigns
Myeshi Briley, who has served as chamber president since 2014, resigned to pursue philanthropy efforts in Houston and beyond.

SPRING, TX -- It's been a pretty good run for Spring-Klein Chamber President Myeshi Briley, but like all good things this one has run its course too.
Briley, who also works part-time for the City of Houston, has been part of the Spring-Klein Chamber of Commerce since 2004.

But that run ended in late June when Briley resigned to pursue philanthropy efforts in the Houston area and beyond.
"I just wanted to do a few other things," Briley said during a recent interview with Patch. "I have a lot of philanthropy projects that I am a part of. I have always been in that philanthropy world and now I want to help on a bigger scale."

While her philanthropy focus has at times been international projects, particularly those involving the need for freshwater, she is looking more at projects on a state-by-state basis.
"We have a lot of devastation in the states, and it's still not quite put back together," she added.
In this regard, Briley says she hopes to help Americans with disabilities who've been impacted by disasters, and basically not received the help they needed from their own communities, or may not know where to turn to get that help.
During her four-year tenure, Briley has seen and helped foster a lot of economic growth in the Spring-Klein community, and has helped bridge partnerships with neighboring chambers of commerce in Tomball, Houston Northwest, Cy-Fair, and Greenspoint.
"We had so much land here," Briley said regarding the economic growth in the area. "Property was at a reasonable price...and it created an opportunity and a platform..."
Other key factors to that growth included the expansion and construction of the Grand Parkway, home construction along FM 2920 and the growth at nearby David Wayne Hooks Airport.
"We went from having ribbon-cuttings every couple of months, to one time having three ribbon-cuttings in one day," she said. "We have about 13 ribbon-cuttings a month. The growth is here, and I'm ecstatic for it."
Briley, who has always been in the trenches when it comes to community involvement with businesses, said the businesses that come to Spring feel valued through this small chamber of commerce, which really manifested during Hurricane Harvey.
"During Hurricane Harvey, we were out there feeding people, and out there trying to meet the needs, making trips to businesses owner...we didn't care if you were chamber members or not, if you lived in Spring, Texas, we were checking on you," she said.
With the Spring community among those still recovering from Harvey, there's still a lot she wants to do here to help, and she feels she can do a lot more outside her role as president of the Spring-Klein Chamber.
"What we do and what we say is always important," she said.
