Meritage Homes Planning New Subdivision in Sugar Land
Real estate developer Meritage Homes is planning a new subdivision in Sugar Land.

SUGAR LAND, TX — Meritage Homes, a residential real estate developer, recently submitted preliminary plans to the city of Sugar Land for a 157 lot, single-family development.
The as-yet unnamed neighborhood is planned for a 57.6 acre tract on Scenic Rivers Drive north of Cabrera Drive, about 2 miles southwest of the Intersection of University Boulevard and State Highway 6.
The area was annexed into the city in March, and the residential zoning application was approved by city council on Aug. 2.

The general land plan was unanimously approved by Sugar Land's Planning and Zoning Commission on Aug. 9, it should go before city council sometime in September.

The neighborhood's preliminary design features 40 acres for single-family homes, 10.5 acres for drainage and water retention, 4.7 acres of open/park space and 2.4 acres for utility easements.
Prices for homes are expected to start around $400,000 and the community should be open to buyers at the end of 2017.
