Richmond Couple Escape After Carjacking Near Mission Bend

A man and his sister were badly shaken when a man with a baseball bat smashed their back windshield and stole their SUV, police said.

RICHMOND, TX — A man and his sister where shaken up when they were the victims of a carjacking early Tuesday. The incident happened at about 3 a.m. while the brother and sister were stopped at the traffic intersection at FM 1464 at West Oaks Village.

The driver said they saw a man in the street when they were approaching the intersection. The driver told police that when they stopped at the intersection, the man smashed the rear windshield of his Toyota 4Runner with a baseball bat.

The driver told police that he got out to check on the damage and confront the man with the bat. That’s when the man with the baseball bat jumped in the driver seat and took of with the woman who was in the back seat.

Police said the woman managed to jump from the moving SUV. The carjacker eventually abandoned the SUV about a half miles away from where it was stolen. He got away on foot.

The woman suffered minor injuries, but was otherwise fine.

Police are still looking for the man.
