Back-To-School Events Happening In The Woodlands
School starts in Conroe ISD on Aug. 15 and parents can get started now to help make sure their kids are ready.

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The start of the 2018-19 school year begins in two weeks and there’s a lot on parents’ to-do list until they send their kids off to school. Parents and kids are gearing up for shopping trips for school clothes and supplies, a visit to the doctor for immunizations and check-ups and even a trip to the district for registration and enrollment for new students.
So where do you start first? Shopping seems to be the first item on the back-to-school to-do list, and parents, especially those with young students, may want to be creative. There are a few options in The Woodlands.
There are several businesses in The Woodlands offering unique and specialized school supply ideas for parents with students in every grade level. Many of those items can be found at several locally owned businesses, such as Mercy House or Tumbleweeds & Notions.

The Greater Houston YMCA has launched Operation Backpack and is collecting backpacks with school supplies at all the 35 YMCA locations in the Greater Houston area. Click here for a list of drop-off locations and a school supply list.
All of those backpacks will be collected and distributed to students in the Greater Houston area to ensure every student starts the year right.

For those parents who wait to get back-to-school shopping finished, the annual Tax-Free Weekend for back-to-school items happens on Aug. 10.
During the sales tax holiday, shoppers can get most school supplies, clothing and shoes minus the sales tax from Aug. 10-12, but there may be some exceptions. Check out the complete list on the Texas Comptroller’s website.
Parents who are new to Conroe ISD or enrolling their child for the first time can find valuable back-to-school information on the district webpage. The website includes information on bus routes, school lunches, student code of conduct, registration, enrollment, and a school supply list for every grade level.
