From Crawfish to Old Style Country Music . . . It's Festival Time In Tomball, Texas

FROM CRAWFISH TO OLD STYLE COUNTRY . . . IT’S FESTIVAL TIME IN TOMBALL

It’s festival time in Tomball as the city rolls out its sixth season of fun-filled family events on Saturday, May 6th and 7th with the Rails & Tails Mudbug Festival. The award winning event is a full weekend celebrating the tasty crawfish through food, music, competitive eating, live crawfish racing and more.

TV’s “Daytripper”, Chet Garner will be on hand Saturday, May 6th to meet and greet his fans, and to join in the fun beginning at noon at Tomball’s downtown Depot festival grounds.

Performing on Saturday are Troy Hess & the Texas Heartbreakers, the Bottle Rockers and Louisiana’s Rockin’ Fiddler – Waylon Thibodeaux. Sunday’s line-up includes Silverado, the Powell Brothers, and Beatles cover band The Fab 5.

There will be loads of crawfish, boudin, etouffee’ and festival foods. Competitive boudin ball eating returns on Saturday, with live crawfish racing at “The Roux Run at Depot Downs” on Sunday. Shop the vendors and then turn the kids loose in the kids zone.

Nothing says Memorial Day Weekend in Texas like chili and country music. Tomball’s Honky Tonk Chili Challenge, sponsored by H-E-B and Community Impact News, will heat up the historic downtown Depot Plaza in Tomball on Saturday, May 27th with spicy chili and hot guitar licks. The Piney Woods Pod of the Chili Appreciation Society International sponsors this CASI sanctioned event with cooks from around southeast Texas vying for the title of Best Chili in Tomball.

Performing old style honky tonk tunes throughout the day will be Tony Booth, Doug Boggs and the Cowboy Jazz Band, Amber Digby and Midnight Flyer, and Liz Talley . . . it’s a retro afternoon back to when Country music was really Country.

There’ll be all sorts of festival foods, vendors, kids zone and summertime fun for all ages.

Admission and parking are free at both events. Gates open at 11 am.
