It's Back To School For Conroe Students

Students in Conroe schools return to class on Wednesday with many starting the year on a brand new campus.

THE WOODLANDS, TX – Summer's over and students in Conroe schools are back in class on Wednesday, and some of those students will be experiencing something totally new. Grand Oaks High School will open its doors to freshmen and sophomores for the first time.

The $154 million campus will have about 1,250 ninth- and 10th-grade students for 2018-2019, with an additional 1,500 students planned through 2021, district officials said.

Katherine Johnson Clark Intermediate will also be opening to nearly 800 fifth- and sixth-grade students on Wednesday. The new campus came with a price tag of just over $26 million. Both campuses were constructed as part of the 2015 bond.
