Memorial Day Weekend: Events Happening In Houston

It's a long weekend and there's lots to do including Comicpalooza, Waterway Nights, sports, and your traditional Memorial Day events.

HOUSTON, TX — It's Memorial Day Weekend, and it's not only the signal to the start of the summer season, but it's also the first long weekend of that summer season.

There are events happening all over the Houston area that allow everyone to share and honor the service of fallen veteran, and there are also events that will help everyone get into the spirit of summer in the Bayou City in no time.

Open House Dance Party| Friday, May 25| Country Dance Houston|The Woodlands| Bring your friends, family, and neighbors and experience social dance! Join us for the FREE event with food, drinks, dance lessons, and dancing from 7 to 9:30 pm.

Justin Timberlake At the Toyota Center| Friday May 25| It will be the last day of the Man of the Woods tour, and if you’re a fan — you know you are — you won’t want to miss it. The show starts at 7:30. Tickets

Comicpalooza 2018 at the George R. Brown| Friday-Sunday 10 a.m.-midnight| Houston| Attention Trekkies, Marvel Maniacs, DC Comic Lovers and anyone who aspires to revel in their inner comicpalooza geekdom.Come on out and meet some of the stars of your favorite Star Trek programs, and take in the cool exhibits too. Memorial Day Community Party At Emancipation Park| Houston| Saturday, May 26, noon-6 p.m.| Tickets| The celebration will be a fun-filled day of family fun activities, entertainment, great food and community resource providers. We will shine a spotlight on the great assets of that community- while, providing a positive opportunity for its members to enjoy the outdoors and connect with valuable resources within the area.

Waterway Nights| The Woodlands| Saturday 6:30-8:30| Pull up a lawn chair, break out the cooler and enjoy live music by local and regional performers in the picturesque setting of Waterway Square at Waterway Nights. Taking place in the spring and summer, Waterway Nights makes for an eventful night out in The Woodlands Town Center. The classic rock band "Face This Way," performs

Tomball’s Oil Town USA Jamboree| Sunday May 27 1-5 p.m.| Free| Celebrate Tomball's 1933 Humble Oil Company gusher as the City hosts the Oiltown USA Jamboree on Sunday, May 27 at the historic 1907 Depot.This old-style county fair kind of festival will celebrate the 85th anniversary of the event that gave Tomball the handle nationally of "Oiltown USA" The original "Tomball Oil Patch Kids" will be recognized in a special ceremony, as Cool Freddie and the Crew and Double Infinity serenade festival goers with tunes from the 1930s and 1940s throughout the afternoon.

Memorial Day Events

  • Memorial Day Ceremony:A ceremony will be held on May 28 at 9:30 a.m. at the Houston National Cemetery, located at 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive at the hemicycle. Call (281) 447-8686 for more information.
  • Memorial Day Honor Run: On Monday, May 28, runners will meet at Willie’s Ice House on FM 1960 and Veterans Memorial at 8:30 to go to the Houston National Cemetery to pay their respects.
  • 10th Annual Memorial Day Service: Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home and Cemetery. Join us on Memorial Day for the service and free community event starting at 10 a.m. with food, flags and patriotic music.
  • Lone Star flight Museum|Monday May 28 9-5| To kick off Summer 2018, The Lone Star Flight Museum (LSFM) will offer a $5 admission for all visitors! In honor of Memorial Day, veterans, active and retired military and reserve receive free admission. Guests who are on property during the hours 11:00a.m. – 1:00p.m. can enjoy a free picnic lunch and a commemorative hand-held American flag to place along the walk way to the entrance.
  • Sugar Land Memorial Day Ceremony - 10 am - 1 pm The City of Sugar Land will honor the brave men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces for their selfless service by hosting its 9th Annual Memorial Day Ceremony. This event is free and open to the public. The program includes: patriotic music, educational and commemorative activities, on-site military exhibits, flag ceremony.
  • Memorial Day Weekend Celebration & Fireworks Shows - 4 - 9 pm. Celebrate Memorial Day Weekend in The Woodlands. The festival pays tribute to all military service men and women who lost their lives while serving the United States, and also honors all veterans who serve as a symbol for those who paid the ultimate sacrifice of life to protect our freedom. Memorial Day Weekend in The Woodlands features live music, children’s activities, strolling entertainers and more at Town Green Park.
