OAK RIDGE NORTH, TX β€” The City of Oak Ridge North is looking for a new city manager after the sudden termination of Richard Derr on Monday. The Oak Ridge North City Council announced Tuesday night that Derr was fired, following a closed door session on personnel matters.

The city confirmed Derr's termination on Tuesday morning in a statement from recently appointed mayor Paul Bond, according to a report in The Woodlands Villager.

"Council concluded Richard was not a good fit for the city, so we are both moving forward in different directions," Bond said in his statement.

Derr was hired by the city in August and assumed his role with the city on Sept. 4 after leaving the Woodlands Development Corporation where he'd worked since 1994.

The city has experienced a lot of turnover in recent months, with Police Chief Andy Walters and City Manager Vicky Rudy both stepping down last year, and Mayor Jim Kuykendahl resigning in June.

Assistant City Manager Heather Neely will take on additional tasks as directed by the city council, Bond added.
