Voters Motivated to Change Woodlands Board
voters were not driven to the polls in fear of higher taxes in The Woodlands. They were driven to the polls to refute the false claims.
As one of the founders of Residents' Advocates in The Woodlands, Texas, I have been chagrined to see your local reporter consistently indicating voters were driven to the polls here in fear of higher taxes. If that was the case, Resident Advocates who dismissed the false claim by an anonymous group led by a discredited former chairman, would not have won 60% of the vote denying that incorporation or a tax increase was on the ballot or imminent. A phony "Concerned Taxpayers" group spent $244,000 trying to keep power on The Woodlands Township board - using the false, but perennial voters' red flag about taxes. They failed miserably, did not even retain the seat of their key supporter, and on November 30 the balance of power in The Woodlands will change from 4 to 3 "Concerned Taxpayers" directors tied to the developer and county cronies, to a whopping 6 to 1 margin for Residents' Advocates representing the real people and families of the community.
