Police Identify Victim In Fatal Plantation Apartments Stabbing

THE WOODLANDS, TX — Police have identified the man who was stabbed to death during a fight with the leasing agent at a Woodlands apartment complex on Tuesday. Lt. Scott Spencer with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, said detectives are continuing their investigation regarding the stabbing that happened on May 28.
Spencer said they have identified the stabbing victim as 30-year-old Austin Bryce Utley.
The incident happened at about 6: 30 p.m. Tuesday at the Plantation Apartments in the 3700 block of College Park Drive.

Deputies arrived at the scene where they found Utley with several stab wounds. He was taken to an area emergency room and died from his injuries.
The employee of the apartment complex, identified as Bryan Keith Spann, told investigators that Utley attacked him inside the leasing office.

Spencer said Spann has retained the services of a lawyer and the investigation is still ongoing at his point. No charges have been filed at this time and are pending the results of the investigation.
